New York traffic courts,
including town courts, city courts, and village courts.
I see all kinds of traffic tickets.
Currently the focus is on Interstate highway speeding,
like on the Thruway and the Northway. These are very
safe roads. By comparison there is little enforcement
in residential neighborhoods.
The focus on highways wastes money and diverts our
skilled State Troopers from more important areas of
law enforcement. It also creates a reverse lottery tax
system, where those unlucky enough to get pulled over
get whacked with fines, surcharges, and increased
insurance premiums amounting to thousands of dollars.
I would shift the focus to areas where there is
greater danger, especially in residential neighborhoods
and other areas with pedestrian traffic.
